| DLK Architecture has worked for some time with the Friends of Ryerson Woods in developing a responsible,
long-term policy aimed at preservation of historic resources, both site and structures. In particular, DLK prepared a comprehensive building assessment for Brushwood, a historic residence now used as a Visitor’s Center within Ryerson Woods.
Our report analyzed the current building and its architectural, structural and environmental systems, made recommendations on maintenance programs, provided ADA analysis and recommendations, and made long-term planning and policy
recommendations about current and future use of the structure. In the future, DLK will assist in developing a restoration plan based
on recommendations from this building assessment, and assist Brushwood
in gaining National Landmark designation.
The project involved review with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
