| DLK Civic Design’s scope of
work entailed programming, design and construction documents for
the construction of a new METRA Station for the Village of Palatine.
The Programming work included land-use planning and traffic studies
to determine the final location of the station. The new station
includes a new station house, pedestrian concourse and decorative
canopies on the station platforms. DLK recommended the relocation of the Palatine commuter rail station to help promote visual and pedestrian connectivity across the tracks, and to increase in commercial activity on both sides of the downtown. By incorporating concessions in the station, a hub of transit-oriented activity was established, thus inspiring additional redevelopment in Palatine’s core. |
