Northbrook Village Hall, Northbrook, Illinois
When the Village of Northbrook decided that their existing Village Hall could not meet their growing needs for office space, meeting rooms, and environmental systems, they chose DLK to create a new and more efficient building, the design of which would clearly express the importance of this civic structure in their community. The program, provided for in 25,000 square feet on two levels, includes offices for various departments and services, the Village Board Room, and public areas.

To define a vision for the new Northbrook Village Hall and its surrounding site, we worked closely with the building committee to develop a functional program which satisfied the Village's staff, Board, and citizens. The building's design is rooted in the regional and traditional architecture of the Village of Northbrook and its neighboring communities. The building itself is constructed of brick and stone, with steeply pitched roofs, broad arches, and a centrally placed stair tower. It is durable, functional, and beautiful.

The building has become an icon for the Village: its image appears on the official seal.
