Having outgrown their existing
facilities, and seeking to revitalize their downtown, the Village
of Mount Prospect engaged DLK to design a new Village Hall and adjacent
parking facility and to create a strong image for their community.
Containing
approximately 45,000 square feet of office space on three levels,
the new Village Hall will provide expansion for existing departmental
offices, a new Senior Center, a new Village Board Room and a variety
of community services and functions. The adjacent 140,000 square
foot parking facility will address not only the parking needs
of the Village Hall, but also the adjacent library and nearby
retailers and help to create a new downtown center for the Village.
To define a vision for the
new Mount Prospect Village Hall and its surrounding site, DLK
worked closely not only with the Village administrative staff,
but also with the Mount Prospect Library Board and their architect
to link the two buildings through site planning and landscaping.
In developing the architectural expression of the building, DLK
is working with the Administrators, board and citizens of the
Village to provide a structure that fits within the municipal
and regional architectural context and will provide a symbol and
identity for the Village to both citizens and visitors.
