The Field Museum: Life Underground Exhibit, Chicago
In 1999, Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History completed the construction of the largest permanent exhibit the institution has ever created. Life Underground, a 16,000-square-foot exhibit which allows visitors to learn about the critical role that soil plays in life on Earth. DLK worked with the Museum for three years as Program Managers for the design, construction, and installation of this internationally-acclaimed exhibit.

DLK acted as "traffic managers" between various departments within the Museum (scientists, exhibit developers and managers, facilities staff, physical plant staff, and others), making sure that every aspect of this complex exhibit was executed properly and in a timely fashion. In addition, we led the coordination and implementation of the project, which included designers and contractors as far-flung as London, San Francisco, and Michigan.
