Girl Scouts - Illinois Crossroads Council Service Center, Vernon Hills, Illinois
DLK Design & Build completed the 28,000 square foot headquarters and service center for the Girl Scouts - Illinois Crossroads Council. The two-story masonry structure houses all corporate and administrative functions for the 20,000 member council. In addition, it provides flexible program space for girls, adult training, a library/learning center, a retail shop, and a heritage museum.

DLK Design & Build and DLK Architecture provided full services from programming and site selection through design and construction. After the program established the required size and components of the project, DLK Design & Build developed full project budgets for the construction of the building, finishing of interior spaces, and purchasing or the reusing of furniture. DLK developed the final design to these budgets and selected W.B. Olson, Inc., as its construction partner to verify costs and to build the project. The completed facility was turned over to the Girl Scouts ahead of schedule and under the initial budget.

This project was awarded “The Best Project Under $5 Million” in 1998 by the Design Build Institute of America.
