bARRINGTON mETRA sTATION, bARRINGTON, Illinois
In 2000, Hayden Bulin Larson was engaged by the Village of Barrington to develop design plans and construction documents for a new streetscape for its Village Center, the central business district in Barrington.

In 2001, this project was expanded to include the completely renovated Metra Station immediately south of the Village Center Streetscape project area. HBL worked with the design engineer to develop and complete the sitework layout and landscape plans for construction.

This project extended the entire length of the new Metra boarding platforms and was designed to incorporate the design detailing from the Village Center Streetscape into the public areas around the new station. Two plazas were created north and south of the station building using extensive landscaping and stone masonry seat walls. Decorative unit paving and light fixtures were installed to match the elements used in the streetscape. Drop-off areas were provided for Metra patrons.
